"A truly interesting and beautiful sculpture of sound" Shanon Tate, Brooklyn Excelsior
Desperate for cash, and with visions of five-dollar Chinese lunch specials driving them onward, brothers Heth and Jed descended the icy subway steps to busk for the very first time. That was almost four years ago. Since then they’ve lived a buskers’ life of daily street performance. Together they’ve unlocked the mysteries of this ancient tradition and to date have sold over 30,000 copies of their CDs (Clean & Between the In and the Out), and their DVD (CitySession), currently airing nationally on Rave T.V.
They've turned on millions to their unique sound as they transform public spaces into sound labs using live looping and an array effects to explore sonic textures never before heard on the streets of N.Y.C. The duo performs over 200 street and subway shows annually, but can also be seen regularly, at venues such as The Mercury Lounge, The Living Room and Pianos.
In 2006, they were selected out of a field of 400 applicants for a coveted spot in the MTA’s Music Under New York program, which allows artists to perform at sanctioned locations within the subway system. Now they can spend more time writing songs for their new CD with producer Jamie Candiloro (Ryan Adams, REM, The Eagles) and less time getting arrested.
