2009 In A Word (or 500)

On December 31, 2009, Andy Carvin at NPR's All Tech Considered blog asked Twitter and Facebook users to summarize 2009 in one word.

In a matter of hours, he received almost 5000 replies.

The words received were generally more negative than positive.

Carvin put 500 of them into the tag cloud generator Wordle which uses the frequencies to control the size of the word. You can see the results below.
